Bonus code

A code that activates a specific offer when entered during deposit or registration.

Definition

A bonus code is a combination of letters or numbers that links your account to a specific campaign. The code tells the casino's system which offer your deposit should be processed under — without it, the offer can stay inactive even after the money has landed.

Not every offer needs a code

Worth stating plainly: not every offer runs on a code. Many Estonian casinos licensed by the MTA (Maksu- ja Tolliamet) let you activate the bonus inside the deposit flow itself — you pick it from a list at the cashier or on the last step of registration, tick it, and confirm the payment. Codes turn up most often with welcome offers and in targeted campaigns: newsletters, reactivation offers, or a partner's own deal. If a site advertises a “secret code” that the casino's own campaign page never mentions, treat it with scepticism — the only binding source for an offer is the operator's terms.

Where the code field usually sits

  • In the registration form — normally on the final step, as an optional field labelled "bonus code" or "promo code".
  • At the cashier when depositing — next to the amount, before you confirm the payment.
  • In the account's bonus section or on the campaign page — some operators let you redeem a code separately, attaching the offer to your next deposit.

The rule is simple: the code has to be in place before you confirm the transaction. Once the money has been processed, the offer generally cannot be added retroactively, and support may not be able to fix it by hand.

No-deposit codes

Some codes are tied to a no-deposit bonus — these are activated on registration or after identity verification, with no money paid in. The amounts are small and the terms are usually stricter than on deposit offers: a higher wagering multiplier, a capped maximum payout and a shorter validity window. The same logic applies to welcome bonus codes, which only work on the first deposit(s) and cannot be used later.

Common mistakes

  • The code has expired. Codes are often time-limited and tied to one specific offer. A code from an old newsletter or forum post may simply no longer be live.
  • Case sensitivity. Many systems are case-sensitive — copy the code exactly, with no trailing space.
  • One account, one household. Terms typically limit an offer to one person, account, device and household. Play is permitted from age 21.
  • Two offers at once. One code at a time — you usually can't activate two bonuses simultaneously, and claiming a new one may forfeit a bonus still in progress.
  • The deposit is too small. Where an offer sets a minimum, anything below it leaves the bonus unactivated even with the right code.

Do the maths first, not afterwards

The code is only a key — the actual value is decided by the terms: the wagering multiplier, game contribution rates, the maximum bet allowed while a bonus is active, and the validity period. Before confirming, run the offer through the bonus calculator to see how much you would really have to stake to release it. If that number looks unrealistic for how you normally play, skipping the code and playing with your own money is the better call.

How to use a bonus code?

1

The code is on the campaign page, in a newsletter or on a partner site such as FREESPIN.ee.

2

Enter at the right moment

Add the code on registration or in the deposit form in the designated field.

3

Confirm

Make sure the bonus is shown before completing the deposit.

Frequently asked questions

What to do if the code doesn’t work?

Check the spelling and validity period and make sure the offer applies in your country and to your account. Contact support if needed.

Can the code be added later?

Usually not — the code must be entered at the moment of deposit. After the transaction the bonus may no longer be addable.

Boonuskood (bonus code): what it is and how it works for Estonian players

A boonuskood — the Estonian term for a bonus code — is a short combination of letters and numbers that a player enters during registration, when making a deposit, or in the bonus section of their account in order to activate a specific offer. Unlike bonuses that are credited automatically, a promotion tied to a bonus code requires a deliberate action: if the correct code is not entered at the right moment, the campaign simply will not trigger. That is what sets a bonus code apart from other reward types — it acts as a key that unlocks welcome funds, free spins, cashback, or a seasonal promotion.

The most important thing to understand is that the code itself has no value; it is only a trigger. Entering it links your account to the terms that were in force when the code was created: the wagering requirement, the minimum qualifying deposit, the list of eligible games, the maximum bet allowed with bonus funds, and a validity window. Two offers that look identical may carry different conditions behind different codes, so it is always worth reading the rules attached to the specific code rather than assuming that every bonus code behaves the same way.

In practice, bonus codes appear most often in welcome offers, where a new user enters the code at sign-up or on the first deposit. Casinos also use codes to re-engage existing players — for example a reload offer sent by email or a loyalty-programme perk. Operators licensed in Estonia and supervised by the Tax and Customs Board (EMTA) are expected to present bonus terms transparently, so every valid code should clearly state what it gives and which requirements apply. If the terms are nowhere to be found, or the code comes from an unverified source, treat that as a warning sign.

A common misconception is that a bonus code always means "free money" that can be withdrawn immediately. In reality, bonus funds are nearly always tied to a wagering requirement and must be played through a set number of times before any withdrawal is possible. Another frequent mistake is using an expired or non-applicable code: codes are often time-limited and aimed at a particular player segment, so an old code or one meant for another market may not work on an Estonian account. Combining several welcome codes or claiming the same offer twice is usually not allowed either, which is why it pays to pick a code whose conditions genuinely suit you.

From a responsible-gambling perspective, remember that a bonus code should never become a reason to play more than you intended. A bonus is added value, not a source of income. Play only if you are 21 or older, set time and deposit limits for yourself, and if gambling stops being entertainment, reach out for support. The purpose of a bonus code is to make play more enjoyable — not to push you toward larger deposits.
