Dice in short

Casino dice has no dice in it. The machine draws a number between 0.00 and 100.00, and you bet beforehand on whether it will land over or under a target you set.

One property makes this game unusual: you set your own win chance. Slide the handle wherever you like — a 95% chance for a tiny payout, or a 2% chance for nearly fifty times the stake. No other casino game hands you that dial so directly.

Which is why dice is the best place to see how casino maths actually works: the multiplier is always exactly what the probability calls for, minus one percent.

How a round works

  1. Set the target. A slider between 0.00 and 100.00.
  2. Choose the direction. The result must land over or under the target.
  3. Place the bet. The multiplier is computed immediately and shown before the roll.
  4. The roll. The machine draws a number. If it lands on your side, you get your stake times the multiplier.

The formula that describes the whole game

The multiplier is always 99 ÷ win chance. Bet "over 50" and the win chance is 50%, so the multiplier is 99 ÷ 50 = 1.98×. No table, no exceptions.

Three things that table means

First: every target is equally good. The last column reads 99% all the way down. You cannot pick yourself a better deal — you can only pick whether you want frequent small wins or rare large ones.

Second: your 99% is not what it looks like. At a 95% win chance you win nineteen rolls in twenty, but each win is 4.2% of the stake while one loss takes the whole thing. Twenty rolls give 19 × 0.042 − 1 = −0.20. It does not feel like losing until the losing run arrives.

Third: 99% is only an average. The house edge is exactly one percent of everything staked, regardless of anything else. In a fast game where a roll takes a second, a hundred euros staked costs one euro on average — but a hundred one-euro rolls are done inside a minute.

Why "almost certain to win" is the most dangerous setting

The biggest misreading in dice is choosing a very high win chance because it "wins almost every time". Here is what a 95% setting actually does:

Every single loss takes back twenty wins. So a 95% setting is not safer than a 5% setting — it is simply a distribution where losses are rare and large rather than frequent and small. Long-run, both shed one percent.

The same logic dismantles the Martingale strategy: doubling after a loss changes none of the numbers above.
