Free spins retrigger – how a bonus round can be extended
A free spins retrigger is a bonus feature found in many video slots. When you are in a free spins round and the required number of triggering symbols – usually scatter symbols – lands on the reels again, the game awards additional free spins. The round is extended and you get more chances to win at the same stake the round was originally triggered with. Estonian players should know that these free spins are an in-game feature and are not connected to casino bonus offers.
Each slot sets its own retrigger rules. In some games a retrigger gives the same number of spins as the original trigger, in others fewer, or the number of extra spins depends on the scatter count. Some games let the round be extended repeatedly, others cap the number of retriggers or spins, and there are also slots with no retrigger at all. In some games multipliers or sticky symbols collected during the round carry over to the retriggered spins, which can noticeably affect the round's value. All of this is set out in the game's info menu, or paytable.
It is important to understand that a retrigger is not something that can be predicted or forced. Every spin is independent and the result is determined by a certified random number generator. Retrigger frequency is part of the game's maths and is already factored into the game's RTP and volatility. A long bonus round does not automatically mean a big win – the round can last a long time and still produce only small wins.
In Estonia, slot games may only be offered by casinos licensed by the Estonian Tax and Customs Board (EMTA). Games at a licensed casino must be tested and their rules available to the player. If you want to get to know the retrigger mechanics before playing with real money, try the game's demo version.
Slot games are entertainment, not a source of income. Casino games in Estonia are only allowed for people aged 21 and over. Set yourself time and money limits and do not play longer in the hope that the bonus round is about to come. If gambling starts to cause concern, help is available at peaasi.ee and tai.ee.
